The Wedgewood House was originally built as the private residence of local business tycoon, T. P. Calkin in 1960. Constructed with the highest quality materials, the house retains the original charm and elegance of a private home.

You will not find the institutional environment of many nursing homes at the Wedgewood House. Instead, you will find individualized care in a pleasant residential setting.

Every resident of the Wedgewood House has their own private room with private en-suite bathroom complete with a tub and shower. Our residents enjoy the privacy of their individual, spacious rooms while enjoying the peace-of-mind that comes with 24 hour care. Frequently asked questions (faQ)

1) Do you offer Respite Care?
The Wedgewood House is now pleased to offer respite care or short-term care to seniors requiring Level I assistance. We offer DAILY, WEEKLY and MONTHLY RATES.

Respite Care include:
- Fully furnished private room with ensuite bathroom, shower and tub;
- Hospital grade electric bed;
- 24 hour personal or supervisory care by qualified staff;
- 3 home-cooked meals per day plus two snacks;
- Peace of mind for you and your loved ones that you are being well cared for; and unlimited loving care.

2) How long is the waiting time for a room?
The wait time will vary based on room availability and resident tenancy. Please feel free to click “Contact Us” for an update.

3) Will I need to cook my meals?
No. We have trained chefs in house to accommodate all dietary restrictions for yourself (or loved ones). We offer three main meals, plus snacks and deserts throughout the day.

4) Who is responsible for Medication Administration?
Our trained and certified staff Administer all medications (as directed under the Department of Seniors and Long Term Care). The medication is stored in a locked and secured location.

5) Will I be responsible for laundry services?
No. Our staff wash, dry and help put away each residents laundry. You choose which day of the week will be your laundry day.

6) Can I bring my own furniture?
Absolutely. We encourage our residents to bring their own, as we cannot guarantee availability on site. This helps personalize your room, as it is your home.

7) I may need assistance with some personal care and getting dressed. Is this offered?
Yes! we help set up, assist with hair, back and feet, we also try and endorse autonomy wherever we can. We lay clothes out for the next day and assist where necessary with dressing. 

8) I have special needs for foot-care. Do you offer nursing services?
Yes. We have a Foot Care nurse who comes every 4-6 weeks for $45/per session.

9) Are there any activities for myself/loved one?
Yes there is, we have a local community activity group that comes in on Wednesday and Thursday. We also have a volunteer singing trio that plays either guitar or violin, finished off with a church service. During the rest of the week, we have bingo, movie day, and nail day where the ladies get their nails done. 

10) Will there be Internet/Phone/TV available?
Our facility is fully wired with Eastlink Services. Residents can have a private phone line installed which they pay for. Cable may require a box rental fee payable to us. Wifi internet is available free of charge.

11) Is there staff 24/7?
Yes. We have staff on site all day, every day.
